At the time, the church and government tend to reject new ideas because they tend to be different than the beliefs they grew up on and the church and government did not like to be challenged and tend to want to keep it that way.

During his trial, he read aloud a signed confession where he agrees that his ideas were false, he was never a free man after his two book releases but the Europeans were widely interested in it because it goes against all beliefs of the Church and government.

Nicolaus Copernicus : He was interested in an old Greek idea that the sun was centred in the universe and all the other stars and planets rotate around it.

Geocentric Theory
It means that people thought that the Earth was the centre of the universe and all the other planets and the sun rotated around it.
Heliocentric Theory
It means that sun is the centre and other planets and stars go around it.

Scientific Revolution : the people in the mid 1500’s weren’t so open about taking in new and different ideas, meaning that the people didn’t question the Bible because it comes hand-in-hand with the Government. Scientific Revolution enhanced it and made people ask questions and open their minds to think about the world differently than what the Church intended to.
